Islands Of Angola
If you think diamonds and oil can bring wealth to a
country, think again. The second largest producer of
both in Africa, its people are one of the poorest in
the continent. Angola gained independence from Portugal
in 1975 and has been embroiled in civil strife ever
since.
Angola is divided into eighteen provinces, 163 municipalities
and 2 islands. Following are the islands:
Kwanda
island is located near the mouth of the Congo river.It
is host to the Kwanda Base, which supports the various
oil and gas companies.
These companies include Texaco,BP,Halliburton among
others.

Academica
Petroleo de Kwanda take their name from the island,
although they are based in Soyo on the mainland near
the islands.Until 2007, they were playing in the Girabola,
Angolan Premier Division.In 2008, they immediately bounced
back to gain promotion back with some impressive performances.They
were founded in 1987, making them one of the youngest
teams in the top tier.Estadio Imbomdeiro is their home
ground with a capacity of 10,000, located in Soyo.
Teams:
Mussulo Island is located only a few kilometers
from the capital, Luanda. It is situated in the Kwanza
river and is a popular destination for tourists.It also
houses weekend houses and a tourist complex. There are
no football grounds on Mussulo, only a water sports
complex. But football being the peoples game here in
Angola, there is every chance that people play the game
in some informal form.
